How to Link PAN With Aadhaar

Linking your PAN (Permanent Account Number) with your Aadhaar card is a mandatory requirement in India. This linking process was made compulsory by the Indian government to curb the practice of tax evasion and black money.

In this article, we will explain step-by-step how to link your PAN with your Aadhaar card.

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax e-Filing portal

The first step is to visit the Income Tax e-Filing portal at https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. If you haven't registered on the portal, you will need to do so by clicking on the "Register Yourself" button and following the steps.

Step 2: Log in to your account

If you are already registered, log in to your account using your PAN as the User ID and your password.

Step 3: Click on the Link Aadhaar button

Once you are logged in, click on the "Profile Settings" tab and then click on the "Link Aadhaar" button.

Step 4: Enter your details

On the next page, enter your Aadhaar number, your name as mentioned on the Aadhaar card, and the Captcha code. Click on the "Link Aadhaar" button to proceed.

Step 5: Verify your details

After clicking on the "Link Aadhaar" button, your details will be verified with the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) database. If the details match, a message will be displayed confirming the linking of your PAN with your Aadhaar card.

If there is any discrepancy in the details, you will receive a message asking you to verify and correct the details.

Step 6: Linking PAN with Aadhaar via SMS

You can also link your PAN with your Aadhaar card by sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161.

Type UIDPAN<SPACE><12-digit Aadhaar><SPACE><10-digit PAN> and send the message.

For example, UIDPAN 123456789012 ABCDE1234F.

Linking your PAN with your Aadhaar card is a simple and easy process that can be done online through the Income Tax e-Filing portal or via SMS. Ensure that your details are correct and updated, as this will help you avoid any issues related to tax filing or refunds.
